  1. Iconmaker may be used for any purpose and is thus in the public domain.

  3. Iconmaker is most useful when it is readily available on the system
  4. disk.
  5.  
  6. The best way to install the iconmaker into your system is to place the 
  7. executable iconmaker onto your system disk in the C: directory and the
  8. rest of the required files
  9.  
  10.         project, project.info
  11.         tool,    tool.info
  12.         drawer,  drawer.info
  13.

  15. in this kit into a directory also on the system disk, for example
  16. sys:icon_templates.  Then add the following line to your system startup
  17. file sys:s/startup-sequence:

  19.     assign icons: sys:icon_templates
  20.     
  21. Note that the file 'drawer' is not supplied since it is a directory file
  22. that must be created as for example,
  23.  
  24.     makedir sys:icon_templates/drawer
  25.  
  26. The files TOOL and PROJECT have been provided in the kit although they
  27. are only dummy files that are necessary so you can use the workbench
  28. option INFO on the icon files (likewise, the sub-directory drawer is not
  29. used by iconmaker but permits one to manipulate the icon files from the
  30. workbench).

  32. Iconmaker can be invoked from workbench as well as cli, so you  may want
  33. to create a project icon file in the root level of the system disk that
  34. has as its default tool  c:iconmaker. When you want to run iconmaker on
  35. the files in a directory that has an icon, do an extended selection of
  36. iconmaker and the icon for the drawer (in that order).  This is then
  37. equivalent to typing

  39.         iconmaker   device:drawer

  41. to the cli.

  43. The supplied icons are only samples; you will want to place your favorite
  44. ones in the icon_templates directory. The drawer icon is the standard
  45. amigados icon, whereas the project icon is one that I use for almost all my
  46. text files (it is setup with the default tool of ram:clicon and will invoke
  47. my editor on the file when clicked). The tool icon is a general tool icon
  48. that I found on a bbs but can't remember who should be acknowledged for it.

  50. Note that there is nothing magic about the name iconmaker, you may
  51. shorten it to anything you want.
